Ever wish surfer rock wasn’t so surfer rock? A minimal take on the beach-drenched tunes of Dick Dale and the Del-Tones or The Ventures from the ’60s sonic rock heyday—perhaps revived again in the 1990s by a Pulp Fiction-obsession—Surfer Blood have a definite surf influence (they hail from West Palm Beach after all), but there’s subtle rolling guitars and very little wavy tracks on debut Astro Coast (Kanine Records).  Read entire story
