There are some ways to stay up past your bedtime when you’re a kid. Learn the entire ‘Abbey Road’ album in its entirety and play it for your parents’ friends into the wee morning hours. At least that’s what soulful rocker Danny Chaimson did. When he was 4, he started playing piano. Then he joined his first band when he was 12, and stayed in it until he was 24. Suffice to say, Danny Chaimson has many years of musicianship behind him. His debut, Young Blood, Old Soul, educes all the funk-, soul- and pop-infused tunes influenced by Sly Stone, Ray Charles and Elton John, among others. Spinner caught up with Chaimson before his third trek to SXSW to chat about working with an American Idol and swings sets at shows. Read entire story
