This St. Patrick’s Day, forget the big parade and think Erin Go Bronx!

Just a 25-minute Metro-North ride from midtown, the significantly Irish Bronx neighborhood of Woodlawn revels in its own St. Patricks’s Day celebrations. Waves of recent Irish immigrations have led to the neighborhood’s nickname, Little Ireland.

Traditional Irish fare and live entertainment in the pubs and restaurants along the Katonah Avenue strip make for the perfect bar hop for St. Patty’s Day without the long lines and crowded streets. The other thoroughfare worth exploring is McClean Avenue, which while technically part of Yonkers is an essential part of the Woodlawn experience. Read entire story
