Both sisters bashfully walk toward center stage. Dressed in gold and garnet brocade gowns, the girls mannerly take their seat together behind a Kurzweill keyboard. Meticulously, the sisters wipe down the microphone then the keyboard keys with a handkerchief from their one vintage red clip purse. Sisters Evelyn and Evelyn Neville barely make eye contact with the audience. Nervously, they pat their dresses and black bobs down making sure they look appropriate and whisper a few inaudible words to one another before performing a ragtime tune “Evelyn, Evelyn.” Pressed together, Evelyn, Evelyn, the conjoined siblings (and warped conception of Dresden Doll Amanda Palmer and Seattle accordionist, singer, songwriter Jason Webley), were the stars of the act Thursday night—part of their week-long residency at the historic Lucille Lortel Theater.
