Detroit Cobras Rock the Boat, NY Press

The boat rocked from side to side. The Detroit Cobras packed the vessel with fans ready to see a rare New York performance Friday night. By 9:30, the band was ready and sultry Rachel Nagy wore in daisy dukes and a pleated shirt, oozing sex with each track. But prior to the set, the night didn’t start out so smooth.

New York City weather was mild, in the low 70s, but the water in the East River was rough. Prior to taking the stage, guitarist Mary Ramirez was downing ginger ale in her battle against seasickness. Sitting to the left of the stage, she was desperate, applying acupressure by pressing into her left wrist. “Oh, this really works,” she said before lowering her head again. Ten minutes later Ramirez was on the opposite side of the level stage, eyes closed and arms wrapped around her Gibson’s neck in a warm embrace, still determined to play. Read entire story
